These speakers are still not "cheap" -- the least expensive ones are still close to $1,000/pair -- but those who know speakers, know how great-sounding these B&Ws are, and how rare it is to get a big discount on them.
And why are we budget-minded audiophiles so lucky right now? The "S3" version of the700 Series speakers were unveiled just three months ago, and this means dealers need to make room by clearing out the "old" models. The 700 series S2 models only came out in 2017, so in this case "old" actually is not that old at all.
I was lucky enough to be at the launch event for these and spent some quality time with several of the models. And let me tell you, they sound fantastic: precise imaging, excellent bass extension, superb dynamics and just about the most realistic reproduction of human voice that I've heard in this price range.
It's rare that floor-standing tower loudspeakers can disappear like a good audiophile grade 2-way bookshelf, but the B&W towers do just that, revealing every detail in the recordings. And the less expensive bookshelf models sound quite similar, albeit without the deep bass extension (you'll probably want to add a subwoofer for those).
Check these out at Amazon:
As of December 14, 2022, all models except the 706 were in stock, but this will change as they seem to be selling pretty quickly at these prices.
The clearance price includes the B&W Center Channel 700 series S2 center channel speakers too, so this may be a great time to upgrade your surround sound system:
All speakers in the Bowers and Wilkins S2 series are available in Gloss Black, Satin White and Rosenut finishes. You can select your preferred color on the product page (it's it's still available).
As this is a clearance priceing situation, the sale price is limited to stock on hand. So grab them while you can.
