It's kind of hard not to turn a few heads when you have something so big and so eye-catching. Sharp certainly popped a few eyeballs this year, with its 90-inch LC-90LE745U AQUOS LED TV. Now, they are receiving some pretty high praise for the product.
The 90-incher was just named as an International CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree.
Chosen by a panel of judges, this lineup typically consists of some of the most cutting-edge stuff in the consumer electronics industry. It sounds like the world's largest LED TV would be a pretty good fit.
Measuring 4 feet tall and 6.5 feet wide, the LC-90LE745U promises a larger than life viewing experience -- literally. It has a full 1080p HD image, full-array LED backlighting, active 3D, AquoMotion 240 technology, and built-in WiFi. Back in June, we reported that the MSRP would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000.
It also makes good use of that WiFi by including Smart TV technology with a dual-core processor. That on-screen platform can deliver a ton of web-based goodies, such as Netflix, YouTube, CinemaNow, Hulu Plus and VUDU. It can even do Skype calls, if you add on a compatible camera. One little perk that other manufacturers don't have is AQUOS Advantage LIVE. This Smart TV feature offers customer/tech support right through this giant screen. It even allows Sharp reps to take over your TV (with permission!) to diagnose any problems you're having.
The International CES Innovations judging panel typically looks for products that exhibit extraordinary design. This 90-inch LED certainly qualifies, with a package that weighs in at 141 pounds (it's 90 inches, people!) and is just 5 inches deep. That size also makes it relatively easy to mount on the wall, although you may want to have a little help.
