Buy a Marantz SR7005 Home Theater Receiver for $1599, Get Mirage 5.1 Speakers Free (Save $1199.99)

By Rachel Cericola

If you want to build a home audio or home theater system from the ground up, you're going to need a brain -- not you (well hopefully not), but the actual audio setup. The A/V receiver (AVR) is the brain behind your entire A/V setup. It not only serves as a hub for all of your audio and video goodies, but can also enhance the performance of those devices.

While your A/V brain should never be in pain, trying to pick out the perfect equipment can certainly be a headache. Thankfully, Amazon has paired up the excellent Marantz SR7005 Receiver with the Mirage MX 5.1-Channel Miniature Home Theater Speaker System. These two items aren't just "better together" but they're also cheaper together, at least for now. For a limited time, Amazon is throwing in that full 5.1 channel surround sound speaker setup for free with the purchase price of the receiver. That's right: no charge for this speaker system which normally sells for $1200 on its own. Find out more about this bundle deal on Amazon:

The Marantz SR7005 features proprietary HDAM (Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Module) circuits, Current Feedback topology, and seven fully-discrete, 125-watt amplifiers. Because it has six HDMI 1.4a inputs and two outputs, you'll be ready for 3D, as well as Audio Return Channel and Standby Pass-Through. The system also handles all of today's surround sound formats, from both Dolby and DTS, and features Audyssey's MultEQ XT Auto Calibration, MultEQ Pro for custom installations, Audyssey DSX, Dynamic Volume, and Dynamic EQ.

Other features include Bluetooth and DLNA support, as well as networking that can add Rhapsody, Napster, and Pandora into your everyday listening experience. As if all this wasn't enough, the SR7005 also became one of the first to support Apple's AirPlay technology via an optional software upgrade, so you can stream your music from iTunes right over your own home network to your audio/video system.  Our own Greg Robinson took a closer look at this receiver last fall. To get the discounts, place both items into your shopping cart. The savings will be reflected during checkout.

At last peek, Amazon was out of stock on this receiver. However, they are offering delivery as soon as it's available. You won't want to wait either, since they are throwing in the free Mirage 5.1 speaker set with the Marantz SR7005 purchase only for a limited time.

The Mirage set has five satellite speakers, which are super compact. Each one is about the size of your palm, making them very easy to stuff into corners and on shelves. For best sound we'd recommend putting them out in the room a bit where they can really sing. Aside from the uniquely cool design, these speakers feature Mirage's own Omnipolar Technology for wide dispersion of sound throughout your listening room. The set also features the MM-6 subwoofer, which includes an 800-watt integrated amplifier, dual 6.5-inch black anodized aluminum passive radiators, and a 6.5-inch black anodized aluminum cone woofer. Find out more about this set on Amazon's product page:

To get the speakers free, you'll need to order both items directly from Amazon.com, and not one of its third-party merchants. Place both items into your shopping cart, and your savings will be reflected during your final checkout. Just be advised that this offer is only good until February 28, 2011 but may be cancelled earlier at Amazon's discretion.
