Denon Debuts 3 IN-Command Series Network-Capable Receivers

By Rachel Cericola

Just a few weeks ago, Denon was talking up its 2012 line of AV receivers. Apparently, they weren't quite finished with the product parade just yet. Today, the company announced plans to release another three receivers under its IN-Command Series.

All three of the new models have 3D and 4K support, 24-bit/192-kHz DACs, Audyssey Dynamic Volume, Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Audyssey MultEQ XT, as well as a new streamlined front-panel design and a new GUI interface. Each one can be controlled via an included remote or using Denon's new and improved Denon Remote App, which is available now for free from the iTunes store.

Of course, putting the IN in IN-Command are Denon's Integrated Network features. This includes access to Sirius XM, vTuner Internet radio and Pandora (if you have a subscription, of course). More importantly, all three of the new models also feature Apple AirPlay. That means users can stream music wirelessly to the receiver from any networked Mac, PC, iPad, iPod touch or iPhone.

Denon's 7.2-channel AVR-3313CI features 4K support and 3D pass-through, as well as Apple AirPlay.

The cream of the crop is the 7.2-channel AVR-3313CI receiver. With 125 watts per channel, this unit can handle larger rooms or up to three zones of music. Besides support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio audio formats, this model includes Dolby Pro Logic IIz and Audyssey DSX supplements. It also has a metal front panel and flip-down door, seven HDMI inputs, and three HDMI ouputs.

According to Denon, the aforementioned Audyssey MultEQ XT Auto Setup makes for an easy setup. If you have the AVR-3313CI or the 7.2-channel AVR-2313CI, the advanced Audyssey Pro installer package is also an option. This add-on can measure ideal sonic performance in up to 32 different positions, boasting the ultimate performance in any size or shaped room.

Other common features include remote access via the Internet, RS-232 and IP Control for third-party controllers and Control4 certification. Each of the new receivers also has Direct Connectivity for iOS devices via a front panel USB port.

Denon has listed the AVR-3313CI with an MSRP of $1199.99, with the AVR-2313CI priced at $899.99. The third new IN-Command model is the 7.1-channel AVR-2113CI, which has an MSRP of $649.99
