It's been exactly two years since we first told you about the first 7-channel soundbar, the FS-7.0. Isn't it about time for an upgrade?
Atlantic Technology seems to think so. The company just announced the FS-7.1. Just like its predecessor, the FS-7.1 has seven speaker-level inputs, meaning it's an easy, direct connection to any seven-channel home theater receiver.
However, the FS-7.1 is slightly different on the inside. The surround drivers are now angled forward, promising better surround effects for almost any application. The company also says that the FS-7.1 boasts better crossover, better power-handling capabilities, and a more accurate sound overall.
Rated specifically for medium-sized rooms, this unit also has a new look. Besides the redesigned enclosure and grilles, it has both keyhole and threaded inserts for mounting.
"The original seven-channel FS-7.0 soundbar was an instant hit, because it was (and still is!) the world's first and only seven-channel soundbar," said Peter Tribeman, Atlantic Technology's president, "Customers loved the simple hook-up and the sound was great, but a few thought it relied too much on side walls for surround. Well, the new design resolves that and it looks even better."
For the full 7.1 effect, the FS-7.1 needs a subwoofer. Atlantic Technology has upgraded that, too. The company just announced the SB-900 subwoofer, which has a more powerful amp, at 125 watts.
Atlantic Technology says that the FS-7.1 and SB-900 are both available now for $950 and $350, respectively.
