The summer may be winding down, but VIZIO is heating things up -- at least in the HDTV market. The company just announced the availability of new additions to the XVT (Xtreme VIZIO Technology) Series. All feature TruLED LED backlighting technology, which VIZIO says they prefer because it boasts better brightness, black levels, and viewing angles.
"Our dedication to high performance drives us to use the best commercially available technology. Each of our XVT TruLED sets uses a Full Array with local dimming that produces an unquestioned superior picture," said John Schindler, VIZIO's VP of new products. "Many competitive manufacturers have decided to use only Edge Lit technology in their flagship products, but edge lighting results in an inevitable compromise in performance."
Additional zones of Smart Dimming means that the set can reach high contrast levels without compromising picture uniformity. The 55-inch XVT553SV and 42-inch XVT423SV each feature 120 zones, while the 47-inch XVT473SV kicks things up to 160 zones. VIZIO has rated the contrast ratio of these at a whopping 10,000,000:1. Also, each set features 240Hz SPS Smooth Motion technology and a profile of less than 3 inches.
If you're not quite ready for one of the larger models (or your living room isn't), the 32-inch XVT323SV and 27-inch XVT373SV are also out now. These Edge Lit Razor LED LCD HDTVs boast local dimming and a claimed 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Other features include a full 1080p image and 120Hz refresh rate.
All of the sets also feature Dual Band 802.11n Wi-Fi and VIZIO's unique two-way Bluetooth remote, which has a super-cool, slideout QWERTY keyboard. This will come in handy while using VIZIO Internet Apps. Speaking of which, each model also has on-screen access to VIZIO's Internet Apps online content service, which provides over 75,000 movie and TV show options and 10 million songs from providers such as Netflix, VUDU, Facebook, Pandora, and many more.
