Sony has introduced a pair of ultra-thin BRAVIA LCD HDTVs with advanced edge-lit white LED backlighting and a stated dynamic contrast ratio of over 1,000,000:1. These XBR10 Series models also deliver full 1080p wireless transmission of high-definition signals from a separate media box to a receiver embedded neatly inside the TV, allowing source components to be placed wherever is convenient for the user. This eliminates the unsightly clutter of cables and creates a clean look for wall-mounting.
These full HD 1920x1080 progressive models also feature Sony's Motionflow 240Hz algorithm which quadruples the frame rate of conventional LCD TVs by interpolating three new frames. They exceed Energy Star 3.0 guidelines for energy efficiency and use Sony's Light Sensor to adjust the backlight intensity based on ambient room light, reducing the carbon footprint even further. BRAVIA Engine 3 and 24p True Cinema also assure the outstanding picture quality that Sony is known for.
The XBR10 models feature an Ethernet port, providing access to Sony BRAVIA Internet Video content over a broadband network, with one of the largest selections of free and premium movies and more from Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Slacker Internet Radio and, as we just found out, Netflix this fall. BRAVIA Internet Widgets add on-screen applications that provide weather reports, stock updates, financial news, Twitter Tweets and beyond. The TVs are Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) compliant, enabling easy access to digital photos, music, and video stored on a PC or other DLNA server by using the distinctive XMB ("xross media bar") interface and just the TV's remote control. They also offer a USB input for digital photos, video and music.
The 52-inch KDL-52XBR10 and 46-inch KDL-46XBR10 models will be available this October for about $5,000 and $4,500 respectively.
