Sling TV Adds NBC, BBC and Multi-Stream Feature to Streaming TV Offering

By Rachel Cericola

Looking for more TV options on the cheap? Sling TV just announced it will offer two different plans, known as Sling Orange and Sling Blue.

Sling Orange is the service's "single-stream" plan. For $20 per month, you can stream 28 different channels, including ESPN, A&E, Food Network, TBS, AMC, and BBC America. Sling Blue is a "multi-stream" plan that includes the local NBC station (in select markets), USA, Bravo, NBC Sports Network, Syfy, and more. That plan is $25 per month for new customers. (Beta users will get to keep their $20 monthly rate.)

The Sling Orange plan allows you to stream live TV to all sorts of devices, but you can only have one stream at a time. The Sling Blue plan bumps that up to three simultaneous streams.

Sling Blue subscribers are also privy to additional NBCUniversal networks, such as E!, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, Golf, and NBCUniverso. All of those are part of the add-on Extra packs. Subscribers can check out what services are being offered in new Sports Extra, Lifestyle Plus Extra, World News Extra, and Best of Spanish TV packages on the Sling TV website. Like all of the service's add-on packages, these are priced at $5 (each) per month.

Getting that local NBC affiliate is definitely a nice perk. However, it will be limited to Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Hartford, Conn., Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Diego, and Washington D.C. at launch. Additional NBC affiliates will be added in the future on a market-by-market basis. Sling TV also plans to add access to on-demand programming at a later update. Regional sports networks for select markets (such as Comcast SportsNet: California, Bay Area, Chicago, and Mid-Atlantic) will also be available to Sling Blue customers soon.

If you don't want to miss out on any of the channels, there's also a discount for that! Customers who order both the Sling Orange and Sling Blue packages together will pay just $40 per month. If you're wondering why you'd want both, know that there are some channel exclusives in each option. Check out both packages on the Sling TV website for channel information.

"Consumers now have more than 100 channels to choose from as they customize their ideal television experience," said Roger Lynch, CEO of Sling TV. "With our new multi-service option and NBC Universal programming, Sling is one of the few pay-TV options where value continues to improve."

In addition to everything above, Sling TV also announced changes to its Spanish-language programming and packaging, Best of Spanish TV. Check out the website for additional information.
