Late last year, Sling TV announced a new feature for the streaming service, known as theĀ Cloud DVR. This perk makes digital video recorder functions available to subscribers, so viewers can record live streaming programming and access that content across select devices. Now they are adding another device to that growing list: the Apple TV.
The Apple TV is now officially part of Sling TV's Cloud DVR "First Look" program. This basically means that the service is limited to customers with one of the supported boxes. In addition to the Apple TV, the Sling TV Cloud DVR is also available on Roku, Amazon, and Android devices. Sling TV plans to add the service to additional devices in the coming weeks.
Sling TV subscribers can sign up for the Cloud DVR program and have 50 hours of DVR storage for just $5 per month. This allows you to record live TV and watch it on your own time, as well as pause, rewind, and fast-forward through those recordings. Users can also record multiple programs simultaneously, without any conflicts.
Although Cloud DVR recordings never expire, know that you can max out on storage. Once you hit that 50-hour limit, Sling TV will automatically delete the oldest "watched" program to make room for new recordings.
The Cloud DVR program is available with any Sling TV plan, but isn't necessarily available on all Sling TV channels. Sling TV streams more than 150 live TV channels, with plans starting at $20 per month.
