Marantz is ending the week with a pair of new products. The company just announced plans to launch the PM6006 Integrated Amplifier and the CD6006 CD Player next month.
This stereo duo promises to deliver music the way musicians intended you to hear it, but at an affordable cost to the listener.
Designed to replace the PM6005, the PM6006 Integrated Amplifier includes pre-amp and power-amp sections with discrete components, as well as two optical inputs and one for coax. It has an integrated current feedback amplifier, with 2 x 45W (@ 8ohms RMS). Other noteworthy features include the DAC CS4398 and Marantz HDAM SA2 for High Resolution Audio support (192kHz/24bit PCM), Marantz's own HDAM-SA3 circuits, and a toroidal transformer. The PM6006 even has gold-plated inputs and outputs, including a phono (MM) input.
The PM6006 was designed for pairing with the CD6006 (as well as the NA6005 Network Audio Player). This CD player has a new layout circuit compared to its CD6005 predecessor. That includes an oversized power supply that feeds the digital and analog circuitry, as well as a CS4398 DAC for converting digital signals to analog. It also includes Marantz's HDAM-SA2 circuits and a full discrete headphone amplifier with HDAM-SA2 and gain control. Other features include a front-panel USB input, iDevice direct connectivity, and gold-plated L/R/coax outputs.
If you plan to pair the two products, also know that the CD6006 can share the same remote control as the PM6006.
Marantz will start shipping the PM6006 and the CD6006 in June, priced at $699 and $499, respectively.
