Epson is continuing to vie for that coveted spot in your home theater. The company has just released a trio of new Home Cinema projectors -- and although they don't have "frickin' lasers" like the company's new Pro Cinema projectors, each one can deliver a 1080p image at an affordable price.
The company just announced the PowerLite Home Cinema 3600e, the Home Cinema 3500, and the Home Cinema 3000. Each one promises the bright colors and bright white levels that today's home cinema buff needs. The 3600e and 3500 each have 2,5000 lumens of color brightness and 2,500 lumens of white brightness, with the 3500 dropping that number to 2,3000 lumens of color brightness and 2,300 lumens of white brightness.
With a 70,000:1 contrast ratio (the 3000 has 50:000:1) and seven built-in color modes, each of the new projectors is perfect for bringing big-screen 3D and 2D entertainment into any living room or home theater.
Featuring 3LCD, 3-chip technology, these new models have wide vertical and horizontal lens shift, a 1.6x zoom lens, and a smaller footprint -- up to 26 percent smaller than preceding models. That lens shift technology means that each one has range, making it easier to place in the room, even if that placement involves an out-of-the-way shelf. The Home Cinema 3500 and 3600e also add in two built-in 10-watt speakers for use in the backyard, on the go, or anywhere else you need a big image.
Besides being able to offer 2D and 3D images up to 300 inches, each of the new projectors has support for full 1080p HD, Detail Enhancement technology, and two HDMI inputs with a picture-in-picture mode. The Home Cinema 3600e also has a WirelessHD transmitter for connecting up to five HDMI devices at once, with one HDMI out connection and one optical port for switching between sources. That top-of-the-line model also has MHL connectivity for streaming content from compatible smartphones, tablets and other devices.
"These new projectors offer refined image quality while being among the brightest 1080p projectors we've ever produced, making them ideal for well-lit family rooms," said Jason Palmer, marketing manager at Epson America. "In addition, a unique compact design, simple lens shift and front-facing exhaust allow users to conceal the projector in a bookcase on the back wall and enjoy images up to 300 inches -- five, 10 or even over 30 times the size of a 50-inch flat screen."
Epson is shipping each of these new projectors now. The PowerLite Home Cinema 3600e and the Home Cinema 3500 each come with two pairs of rechargeable RF 3D glasses. Those are priced at $1,999 and $1,699, respectively. The Home Cinema 3000 has an MSRP of $1,299.
