E3: Crysis 2 To Exploit 3D TV with Stereoscopic 3D Versions

By Enid Burns

It's not enough anymore to create a visually stunning video game. Electronic Arts and developer Crytek are upping the ante with a stereoscopic 3D version of their upcoming Crysis 2. An alien raid empties the streets of New York City except for defending soldiers. Expect a faithful recreation of Grand Central Station, though most New Yorkers will notice a few liberties have been taken such as a glass ceiling replacing the beautifully lit constellations in the real world. We may allow it as it allows more depth to the 3D environment.

Deep Impact

Crysis 2 will be available in both 2D and 3D across multiple platforms including the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Developer Crytek says the 3D version will work across all 3D platforms. Video games may be the category to push 3D HDTVs. The environment provides plenty of objects and action in the foreground and background. Crysis 2 is due out this holiday season.
