Earlier this year, Bang & Olufsen introduced the Avant 4K Ultra HD TV. The hook on the TV wasn't just the eye-popping 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It also moved -- literally. The TV actually had options for motorization, allowing viewers to tweak the positioning of the screen to make every seat in the room the best one.
The only problem with that TV was that it was a mere 55 inches. Well, Bang & Olufsen is rectifying that by introducing the BeoVision Avant 85", an 85-inch version of the TV.
Besides the 4K image, the 85-incher has direct type LED with 2D local backlight dimming. On the audio side, it has a 3-channel speaker system with three dedicated tweeters, three midrange units and two bass drivers. All of that tucks away nicely inside the TV, when it's not in use. Users can also opt to pump the audio up to 7.1 surround sound using the Immaculate Wireless Sound concept that Bang & Olufsen introduced late last year.
Of course, the Avant 85" also offers those eye-catching motorization features via an optional stand. That stand can actually move the TV up to 90 degrees from the wall. If you want it off the floor, there's also a wall bracket, which can move the screen up to 19 degrees from the wall for the 85-inch version. (For the 55-incher, it goes as far as 60 degrees.) Everything is controlled via the included BeoRemote One, which helps you channel surf as well. Once the set is turned off, the TV will fold back the aforementioned speakers and return to its proper resting place.
Our own editor-in-chief, Chris Boylan, got to check this out in the flesh and found that "it offered excellent image quality and a smooth motorized stand that moves it into the best viewing position or out of the way when not in use."
Other Avant 85" features include integrated access to Spotify and Deezer, smart TV features, automatic speaker calibration, and nine editable sound modes. It also includes six HDMI inputs and two USB ports.
"BeoVision Avant 85" is a true state-of-the-art product at a competitive price for a television of this size and level of innovation," said Tue Mantoni, the CEO of Bang & Olufsen. "At Bang & Olufsen, we are proud of introducing this grand television to a market that is demanding products offering extraordinary home experiences."
Of course, bigger is better -- but it's also more expensive. Bang & Olufsen has priced the BeoVision Avant 85" with an MSRP of $22,700. It's selling now, with the motorized floor stand available separately for $2,295.
