Are you ready for some serious in-your-face audio? Who wouldn't be? Of course, we've been hearing a lot about Dolby Atmos sneaking into a lot of new AV components. Now, Auro Technologies is looking to bring its Auro-3D audio format to the masses.
The company just recently announced a partnership with Amplifier Technologies Inc. (ATI) that will put Auro-3D into more products than ever before. ATI expects to integrate the technology into preamp/processors marketed by ATI's Theta Digital, ATI and B&K brands.
Auro-3D is a new audio format that provides a 3D-like experience, very similar to Dolby Atmos. However, this option adds height channels that can deliver up to two sound layers. One of those is right above the typical surround layer, with the second coming straight from above -- which is why it's also known as the "Voice of God" channel. It completely immerses the listener in the sound. (For more information on all of the 3D formats, check out "What's Up with 3D Immersive Sound: Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and AURO-3D?")
"Amplifier Technologies Inc. are leaders in the design and manufacture of high performance amplifiers and audio components. We are delighted to be working with them to bring Auro-3D to audiophiles around the world," said Wilfried Van Baelen, CEO of Auro Technologies. "Auro-3D is a revolution in sound, adding the missing dimension of height to bring true 3D immersive movies and music to the home. We're looking forward to working together with ATI to deliver great new products over the coming years."
In addition to bringing 3D sound home theater audiences, Auro Technologies is also working on mobile, automotive and gaming solutions.
"ATI has always been at the forefront of audio innovation, and we believe that Auro-3D represents the next generation in audio, taking sound into the third dimension," said Morris Kessler, president and chief designer of ATI. "I'm delighted that this partnership agreement with Auro Technologies will allow us to offer the Auro-3D experience to our customers."
Auro and ATI recently teamed up to present the sound format to crowds at January's 2015 International CES, with much success. However, there's currently no word on which ATI products will get the Auro-3D support -- and when. Stay tuned.
