In addition to its excellent performance on HD-DVD titles, the player does high definition upconversion of standard definition DVDs like nobody's business, thanks to its integrated Silicon Optix Reon-VX video processor. Also, fulfilling an earlier promise, Toshiba has delivered a recent firmware upgrade for the player (version 2.7) that allows the HD-XA2 to support native 24 frames/second output (1080/24p) as well as bitstream support of next generation audio codecs, Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
