Amazon.com Announces Top-Selling DVDs of All Time
By Chris Boylan
And the Top 25 DVDs are...
Amazon.com, Inc. today announced its all-time bestselling DVDs and inducted them into their new "Hall of Fame."
Compiled from 10 years of Amazon sales data, the list has few surprises, packed with recent blockbusters, popular movie series such as "Star Wars" and "The Lord of the Rings" and TV series such as "Seinfeld," "Sex and the City" and "The Simpsons."
It's possible that the results are stacked a bit in favor of titles that have had multiple releases (like the "Lord of the Rings" films which have each had regular and Special Edition versions) and those titles that Amazon has featured at special pricing (sometimes as much as 40% below list), but it's always fun to see what people are buying so that we can compare these to our own personal favorites.
Amazon will also be broadcasting exclusive never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage from the top DVD series on the list, "The Lord of the Rings," in a live webcast - part of their 10th Anniversary Event - on July 16 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time.
Customers can now visit the Amazon Hall of Fame at
www.amazon.com/halloffame to see not only the top DVDs, but also the top 25 bestselling authors and musicians over the past 10 years on Amazon.com.

Since 1995, the Web site has expanded its product offerings to include everything from music and video to tennis rackets, live Maine lobsters and loose diamonds, and operates sites for customers in the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, France, Canada, and China.
