SpeakerCraft has long been well-known for their custom-installed loudspeakers and electronics, and today they took their offerings to a new level with the announcement of a game-changing audio/video distribution and control system. Dubbed Nirv, this new system will probably make you want to start a bonfire and dispose of your current control gear.
Designed from scratch, Nirv is free of the legacy technology that might have otherwise limited its potential. As a result, this new approach is at once powerful, flexible and easy to use. How powerful, flexible and easy-to-use? The hardware can handle multiple simultaneous streams of audio and high-definition video (with proprietary, virtually lossless compression) over a single CAT-5 (or 6) line. That same single line also routes all necessary system data/control/communication, making the process of adding new zones--more than you could every possibly want or need--a breeze for installers.
Above all, SpeakerCraft has made sure that Nirv is user-centric such that consumers need only worry about what they want to do/watch/listen to, not about the gear they are using. One quick example: Unlike other systems, Nirv allows (with the use of their optional touch-panel controllers) listeners to access and enjoy music without ever turning on the TV, previously a real sticking point for automated entertainment enthusiasts. The wait will be over beginning in the first quarter of next year, when the first Nirv product arrive.
