Ready for more reality TV? Probably not. Luckily, VIZIO wants to expand your channel lineup, via VIZIO Internet Apps (VIA) Connected HDTVs.
Earlier this year, the company announced the connected HDTV service -- as well as plans to deliver more content partners than any of its competitors. To date, we haven't actually seen the service in a production TV model yet, while said competitors Panasonic, Samsung and LG are all currently delivering IPTV features in their TVs. But, VIZIO claims we won't have too much longer to wait (well, unless you consider four months a long time).
The budget HDTV manufacturer may be long on talk and short on delivery, but they do have a few new interesting things to say. The latest is the announcement of a new and improved list of service providers for VIA HDTVs. The company previously announced partnerships with Accedo Broadband, Amazon Video On Demand, Blockbuster On Demand, Flickr, Netflix, Pandora and Rhapsody. New deals will add:
The company's VIA Connected HDTV includes options for wireless and wired connections. After a quick setup process, VIZIO says that users can surf through the widgets and other enertainment options via a universal remote, which includes a built-in QWERTY keyboard. Other features include the Yahoo! Widget Engine and support for the Adobe Flash Platform for the Digital Home.
VIZIO will include the VIA Connected HDTV feature into its XVT series, which is expected to ship this fall.
