At last week's International CES in Las Vegas, Vivitek was on hand to show off the newest member of its popular Qumi line of LED-based pico projectors, the Q7. Unlike its somewhat smaller and lighter brethren, the Q7 is a bit more substantial weighing in at just over three pounds. While that may sound chunky for a Qumi, the added heft brings with it decidedly more light output than the average pico.
Sporting a native resolution of 1280 x 800, the 720p Qumi Q7 features a welcome 800 lumens of brightness with a published contrast ratio of 30,000:1. Taking into account the added brightness as well as its highly portable dimensions, the Q7 is sure to find an audience that is equal parts business and gaming/entertainment.
Those interested in the Q7 for its gaming and home entertainment capabilities will be pleased to learn that the Q7 is 3D-ready thanks to Texas Instruments' DLP Link technology. When mated with a pair of 3D Link-ready active 3D glasses, the Q7 can handle not only your 3D content from sources such as Blu-ray 3D, but it will also perform its own 2D-to-3D conversion.
Connection options on the Q7 include two HDMI inputs (one of which is MHL-compatibile), VGA and composite inputs, as well as one USB port. You'll also find 4GB of on-board storage, built-in Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF document readers, as well as an integrated 2W speaker.
The Qumi Q7 will be priced at $999 when it goes on sale this summer.
