VUDU just keeps cranking out news -- or at least endless entertainment. The company is about to announce its latest addition to the VUDU lineup, the Criterion Collection. Starting tomorrow, VUDU customers will be able to stream a wide selection of films from the Criterion Collection online via their VUDU box or VUDU-enabled Blu-ray player or television.
The Criterion Collection is the leading name, when it comes to restoring and distributing classic and contemporary films. Each film is presented uncut, in its original aspect ratio. Some of the titles that will be available via VUDU include Fellini's La Strada, Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris and Fritz Lang's M. Other titles include Lord of the Flies, Grey Gardens, Au Revoir Les Enfants, as well as titles by Ingmar Bergman, James Ivory and many others. The selection will be available on VUDU's on-demand service immediately.
"VUDU is excited to be adding these timeless classics from the Criterion Collection to VUDU's already extensive catalog," said Alain Rossmann, CEO of VUDU. "The Criterion Collection has a long history of delivering the most significant movies of our times from the highest quality video and audio source files available. Criterion Collection fans will find that the VUDU Service presents these classics in all their glory."
The VUDU service can be accessed on a variety of TVs and Blu-ray players, including LG LH50 and PS80 HDTVs, the LG BD390 Blu-ray player (within the next 10 days) and Mitsubishi's 249-series HDTVs.
VUDU boasts the largest instant HD movie library in 1080p, which also features Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. They currently offer 16,000 movie and TV titles -- some to rent and some to own -- and 2,200 of those are in HD.
