Ultimate Ears 700 Headphones Keep Music In, Noise Out

By Rachel Cericola

Hoarding music all to yourself is a relaxing, personal experience. Of course, someone in the background yammering away can really kill that musical buzz.

Logitech can't hear your pain -- probably because they designed in-ear headphones to drown out any background noise. The company says that the new Ultimate Ears 700 noise-isolating earphones are used by 75 percent of the world's touring professional artists, including Green Day and Fall Out Boy. And really, if you can't trust a rock star, who can you trust?

"Ultimate Ears... I love 'em," says Peter Wentz, bass player for Fall Out Boy and Mr. Ashlee Simpson. "They block out all outside noise so all I hear is beautiful music."

Now, the rest of us can also enjoy that rock-star treatment. Ultimate Ears 700 works well with an iPod or other MP3 player or even a computer. Each set promises a custom-tuned dual-armature microdesign for accurate sound reproduction in a compact package. Frequency response is 10 Hz to 16.5 kHz, with two high-fidelity drivers per ear.

Each Ultimate Ears 700 set comes with an assortment of ear cushions, so you can rock out in comfort. That custom fit provides passive noise-isolation of up to 26 dB.

While many noise-isolating headphones are a bit bulky, Ultimate Ears 700 weighs in at just 11.6 grams. That light weight makes this set perfect for hitting the road or the gym, or just lounging around the house. Expect Ultimate Ears 700 to sell for $229.99.
