Today Only! Panasonic DMP-BD70V Blu-ray/VHS Player: $139 Shipped

By Rachel Cericola

There are people out there still clinging to VHS. No, it's actually true! For those that can't let go of the past, but still need a taste of today's technology, Panasonic has the DMP-BD70V combo deck.  In addition to upconverting regular DVDs to 1080p output, the BD70V does the same for VHS offering new life to your old tapes.

Even better, Amazon has made the DMP-BD70V its Gold Box Deal of the Day, meaning you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to have the best of both worlds -- or at least of both mediums. Here is a link to the actual product:

So here is the obvious: the DMP-BD70V features both a Blu-ray player and a VHS player. What might not be so obvious is that you can use the same device to play regular DVDs and CDs, as well as access Panasonic's own VIERACast IPTV features. That service comprises of a ton of fun content, including entertainment from YouTube, Amazon VOD, Google Picasa, Bloomberg, and other providers.

Other features include BD-Live support (with optional SD card), on-board processing for 7.1 channel surround sound - including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, 4:4:4 color output over HDMI, USB and SD memory card slots, as well as the Energy Star seal of approval.

Amazon is also offering free shipping for this deal, but you'd better act fast. The online retailer plans to pull the special price at the end of the day or as soon as they run out of stock.
