Looking to go big with 3D? You may want to look at a DLP projector. Texas Instruments, the company who makes the DLP chipsets, says that multiple manufacturers are now shipping 1080p 3D DLP projectors.
Both Samsung and Sharp are out at the Consumer Electronics Show this week, showing off 3D 1080p systems. According to TI, these products are now available for purchase.
Promising a completely immersive experience, DLP can display everything from movies to gaming to sports. DLP boasts bold contrast ratios, bright colors, inky black levels, and flexible placement options. Of course, 1080p takes things up a notch, in full HD. The new systems are also compatible with Blu-ray 3D, as well as standard Blu-ray formats.
"3D displays from DLP continue to offer superior color quality and reliability, which is why consumers continue to choose our projection solutions, from cinema houses to neighborhood homes and everything in between," said Roger Carver, TI's manager of DLP Front Projection. "The innovation of the DLP chip design is what makes DLP the only one able to produce 3D in a single projector solution, and the reason consumers will continue to see innovations from us and our customers."
Aside from home cinema, DLP projection technology is prominent in many schools. DLP is currently making waves at CES, most notably inside Mitsubishi's 92-inch DLP HDTV.
