Earlier this week, we were talking up the Soundmatters foxLv2 speaker as one of our five favorite Kindle Fire accessories. Now, it looks like the company is adding another pint-sized sound solution to its repertoire. Soundmatters, the company founded by former NASA engineer Dr. Godehard Guenther, just announced the foxLO, a palm-sized subwoofer.
Destined to be a desktop conversation starter or the ultimate travel buddy, the foxLO features a few interesting perks. Besides the small size of the unit (2.5-by-4.5-by-6.3 inches), it packs in Linear Magnetic Drive woofer technology with a proprietary passive radiator system and 25-watt amplification. The end result promises clean deep bass that should be pretty impressive -- especially given the size of this subwoofer.
Naturally, it's also a nice companion for the foxLv2 speaker, which is currently available in Bluetooth (MSRP: $249) and non-Bluetooth ($199) versions. It can connect right to the foxLv2's subwoofer output. It also works with the iPad, iPhone, Android devices, Mac, PC or other portables, via the sub's full pass-through output.
Other features include a USB port to easily connect (and charge up!) portable devices, as well as an audio input with variable bass level and power LED.
"While people are amazed at the overall performance and bass of our little foxL by itself, coupling it with the new foxLO sub creates a truly remarkable full-range system portable enough for any traveling audio-lover," said Lee Adams, VP of Soundmatters.
Soundmatters currently has a variety of foxL speaker models and accessories available. The foxLO subwoofer will join that lineup in the spring, with an MSRP of $149.
