WalMart doesn't need the old Jedi mind trick to get you to buy one of the new Star Wars releases. Instead, they are just offering each one at a discount, plus an exclusive on the latest family-friendly animated episode in the franchise.
First up, we have Star Wars: The Complete Saga, which was just released last week. WalMart has this nine-disc set for 43 percent off its $139.99 list price, which means you can score the entire series for just $79.99. It seemed like only yesterday that you would pay anything for this set on Blu-ray, right?
That price comes with free shipping to any WalMart store of your choice. It also includes new and "improved" versions of all six Star Wars movies, in full 1080p HD, with a new DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 soundtrack. Once you whip through all of the films, the set should keep you busy for at least a few more days, with over 40 hours of extras.
Our own Chris Chiarella recently reviewed this set and said, "As they should be, all six movies are stepped up visually and sonically at least incrementally from their DVD incarnations, while Episodes II and III are high-def jaw-droppers." If you aren't ready to dive into the full set just yet, choose between your favorite part of the series with Star Wars: The Original Trilogy and Star Wars: The Prequel Trilogy. The Prequel Trilogy features the three most recently made live action movies: The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones, and Revenge Of The Sith. The Original Trilogy has all of the earlier films: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi. Each release includes the three films in full 1080p HD with the DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 sound. Neither set comes packing any of the extras. However, they are also less expensive, priced at just $39.96 each. Find out more on WalMart's website:
This is another one that Chris Chiarella got his hands on, saying that it's "a good time for young and old viewers." Read his full LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace Blu-ray Review or check out the disc's details on WalMart's product page:
There's no word on how long WalMart will be offering these discounts. Just remember that besides shipping to your home, WalMart always offers the option to ship directly to any local WalMart store. That service is absolutely free, and assures you that the title is in stock and waiting for you when you arrive.
