SpeakerCraft is ready to rock the mass-market, unleashing two solutions with iPod, iPad, and iPhone users in mind.
The FloBox and FloBox Mini stand out not just because they are from SpeakerCraft, but because both products integrate an iPad dock into the actual unit. That same dock can also accommodate the iPod and iPhone, and features an FM tuner and a mini USB port for synching up with services such as iTunes or playing back music files on ann attached USB drive.
The original FloBox has two 3.5-inch mid-woofers, two 0.75-inch dome tweeters, and a single 5.25-inch subwoofer. It also throws a CD drive into the unit, if you want to get all old-school. The Mini makes slightly less of a ruckus, with two 3-inch woofers and two 0.75-inch tweeters.
"There is an entire generation that has missed out on high-performance audio reproduction because of MP3 music delivered through cheap headphones and mediocre electronics," said Jeremy Burkhardt, SpeakerCraft's president. "We want them to experience a room filled with sound that completely changes their opinion of what music can sound like and that is exactly what the FloBox does."
There's no word on price or delivery date, which gives you some time to think about colors. Both units will come in black, white, silver, red and yellow.
Those who want to use their own stereo speakers might be interested in the Vital 250, a new intergrated amp from SpeakerCraft that also includes a dock for iPad, iPod and iPhone. The Vital 250 features a high current 50 Watt/Channel stereo amplifier and digital upconversion for improved sound quality of low bitrate MP3 files and other digital music files. The Vital 250 will sell for a suggested lsit price of $699.
