Back in March, Soul Electronics announced plans to go head to head with Monster and enlist another infamous hip-hop artist to headline its headphone line. Now the company says that SOUL by Ludacris is officially available.
Inspired by Grammy winning artist and actor (Fast Five) Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, the SOUL brand will start out with five models.
The top of the line is the elite High Definition SL300 Powered Noise Cancelling headphone. Boasting noise cancellation technology inside a slick package, this over-the-ear model promises to deliver a private listening experience. A foldable design makes the SL300 easy to take on the road. It also comes with 3.5mm and 1/4-inch adapters for compatibility with almost any component or portable device. Available in gold or as a black-and-white combo, the MSRP on this model is $349.99. However, Amazon currently has them for $50 less.
With an on-ear design, the SL150 model provides a taste of professional sound, but with style. Promising big bass with mid and high clarity, this foldable option comes in a chrome-on-black color, as well as a black-and-white option. The SL150 has an MSRP of $249.99, but can be had for $199.95 on Amazon.
For something a little more compact, the SL100 offers an on-ear option in a smaller package. Despite the small size, Soul says that the SL100 can deliver some very big sound. Besides standard audio fare, this set comes ready to rock the iPod, packing in both a standard straight audio cable and a cable with an in-line remote control. It's also a pretty bold pair, available in both red-on-black and blue-on-black combinations. The MSRP on this model is $179.99, but Amazon has it now for $30 less.
Last, but certainly not least, there are two in-ear models: the SL99 and SL49. Both offer high-definition sound in a tangle-free design. Each pair also comes with small, medium and large replacement ear tips for a comfortable, personalized fit. The big difference between the two pairs is that the SL49 has an MSRP of $99.95 ($69.95 on Amazon), while the SL99 adds in sound isolation technology for $149.99 ($99.95 on Amazon).
