Go figure: According to Sony, there's never been a better time to own (or, you know, go out and buy) one of their spiffy Bravia LCD HDTVs. New/upgradable features aplenty were discussed at CEDIA, namely:
Bravia Internet Video Link: Leveraging the strength of its software cousin, Sony Pictures, the TV manufacturer is able to supply more on-demand content than a person could ever watch, much of it free, some of it exclusive to Bravia, and even some in high-definition. As mentioned previously, Bravia Internet Video Link users will have entrée to the first pre-DVD/Blu-ray release screening of a major Hollywood movie, Hancock. (Boy, it's all about Hancock this fall, isn't it?) Amazon.com will also be providing more than 40,000 streaming movie and TV titles via Bravia Internet Video Link, this in addition to the de rigueur inclusion of YouTube access.
Bravia Wireless Link: Sony's flavor of wireless HDMI technology connects to as many as four different high-definition devices located as far away as 200 feet, at 1080i quality with less than a one millisecond delay.
Bravia DVD Link: With the addition of this module, a slot-loading DVD player can be cleverly installed directly onto the rear of one of Sony's Bravia flat panel HDTVs. Best of all, the source component integrates seamlessly with the now-familiar Cross Media Bar (XMB) user interface, so you won't have to worry about finding the DVD input deep on some arcane menu.
