Sony 2012 HDTVs and Blu-ray Players Now in Stores

If you've been waiting since January's Consumer Electronics Show to upgrade your AV, you can now stop holding your breath (and your wallet). Sony just unleashed a slew of new BRAVIA HDTVs, as well as one 3D-capable Blu-ray player.

When it comes to HDTV, there are models to choose from across three new BRAVIA lines. There are new LCD and LED models, with features including 3D support, web features, and yes, even affordable prices. All are now available for purchase, with prices listed below.

At the top of the heap is the HX750 series, which has one new model, the 55-inch KDL-55HX750. This joins the existing 46-inch KDL-46HX750, and features a full 1080p HD image, 3D support, Dynamic Edge LED backlighting, and a variety of web features through the Sony Entertainment Network. It also has Sony's own X-Reality digital video processor and Motionflow XR 480 technology, both of which promise a sharp, stutter-free image across a variety of content.

Next up is the EX640 series, which features a total of two models. The 40-inch KDL-40EX640 and the 55-inch KDL-55EX640 don't have support for 3D, but do include a full 1080p HD image, Edge LED backlighting, Motionflow XR 240 processing, and Sony's Clear Resolution Enhancer technology. Also, both sets can deliver the Sony Entertainment Network. However, it can do that a lot easier with WiFi connectivity out of the box, via an included adapter.

Finally, the BX450 series will include the 40-inch KDL-40BX450 and 46-inch KDL-46BX450. This no-frills line doesn't have the 3D or web features, but can put a full 1080p HD into any area of the home at an affordable price. Other features include Clear Resolution Enhancer and Digital Noise Reduction, as well as two HDMI inputs and one USB port on each set.

Once you have the TV in place (literally), consider adding in a Blu-ray player. Whether you're looking to add a new player, a 3D-capable player, or web features into an existing setup, the Sony BDP-S590 Blu-ray 3D player should fit the bill. This one player combines all of those features, as well as support for 2D Blu-rays, DVDs and CDs.

Other features include built-in WiFi and 2D-to-3D conversion. It also has the aforementioned Sony Entertainment Network, which provides on-screen access to Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, HuluPlus and more, all through the remote.
