Audiophiles can start the drooling process. Sherbourn Technologies has announced plans to ship its latest product, the PT7030 7.1-Channel Audiophile Home Theater Preamp/Processor.
The preamp/processor promises reference-level performance, and can play nice with a lot of the popular home automation systems that are currently on the market. Some of the features on the new component will include full Ethernet control and discrete parametric equalization for each channel.
Designed to be the center of your home theater, the PT-7030 is also packing in plenty of processing goodies, including Twin Cirrus 32-bit dualcore DSP processors, an integrated Genesis Torino high-performance video scaling engine and Faroudja DCDi Cinema Format Conversion and Truelife video enhancer.
Naturally, the PT-7030 doesn't work alone. It has a ton of options for adding in all of your necessary AV equipment -- and maybe even a few non-essential pieces. The PT-7030 features six HDMI 1.4a inputs and two HDMI 1.4a outputs. Each of those feature full support for Deep Color, Audio Return Channel, and CEC. Also expect scaled 1080p HDMI output from all legacy video inputs (three composite, two component) and the ability to output video from all HDMI inputs via the component video outputs at 1080i. Other options include stereo and 7.2-channel unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs, balanced XLR stereo inputs, and 7.2-channel balanced XLR outs. Each of those boast noise-free compatibility with a variety of power amplifiers, as well as Bluetooth audio streaming and support for iOS devices.
To get your sweaty mitts on one of these, you're going to have to call an installer. Don't start dialing just yet, though. Sherbourn says that the PT-7030 7.1 Channel Audiophile Home Theater Preamp/Processor will start shipping to authorized Sherbourn dealers sometime in early Q2 2012. Expect the MSRP to be $2499, which includes a 5-year warranty.
