Back in January, Sharp Electronics introduced its 2013 line of TVs, which included the AQUOS 6-Series. Thankfully, the company isn't making frothing TV buyers wait too long to get the goods, announcing plans to ship the first of those models.
Now, when we first reported the news, the 6-Series featured three lines and a total of eight models. This is specifically the 650 series, which does not have any 3D features. That said, it does have four sizes, each with a full 1080p HD image, a 4M:1 contrast ratio, the 120Hz refresh rate, and something that Sharp calls an "advanced pixel structure."
Each one is also a smart TV, with a dual core processor and built-in WiFi. Those perks allow users to tap into the set's apps and web browser for added content. That comes via Sharp's SmartCentral Smart TV platform, which supports Android and iOS remote control. It's also compatible with Sharp Beam, a free app that lets users stream content from iOS and Android smartphones and tablets directly to the TV. There's also a brand new feature for split-screen use, so users can watch TV and surf the web at the same time.
Other features include new connectivity options, a slim design, and built-in 20-watt audio.
Sharp has already started selling the 60-inch LC-60LE650 and the 70-inch LC-70LE650 for $1499.99 and $2499.99, respectively. The 50-inch LC-50LE650 should start shipping in the middle of next month for $1049.99. The last in the line will be the massive 80-inch LC-80LE650, which will start shipping in May, with an MSRP of $4999.99.
