At this year's CES, "smart" is giving "3D" and "4K" a run for their money as the Most Buzzed About Technology, and consumer electronics maker Sharp is adding fuel to the fire with their new SmartCentral streaming and app-based entertainment interface.
Available on select models in Sharp's 2012 LED HDTV lineup, Sharp's newly-designed, customizable SmartCentral user interface provides access to popular applications such as Netflix, Hulu, CinemaNow, YouTube, and Facebook while giving consumers the ability to denote certain apps as Favorites, choose from multiple wallpaper styles, and on select models display the interface in either full screen or a dock-style viewing format.
Although the full implementation of SmartCentral will only be available on select AQUOS LED HDTVs, portions of the interface along with select apps (including Netflix, VUDU, and YouTube) will also be available on Sharp's two new Blu-ray Disc players for 2012, the BD-AMS10U and BD-AMS20U.
Continuing with the smart electronics theme and overall app mania here at CES, the TV maker also introduced Sharp AQUOS Beamzit, a free media-sharing app which gives consumers the ability to wirelessly send photos, music, and video to a Sharp AQUOS Wi-Fi-enabled HDTV from their iOS or Android-based smart phone or tablet.
