Feeling a little overwhelmed by all of the electronics currently on the market? Best Buy is hoping to entice you into buying an Ultra HD TV or another AV product by easing some of your fears about today's high-tech devices. The retailer has teamed up with Samsung and Sony to deliver in-store "experiences" at retail locations around the country.
Samsung will be launching the "Samsung Entertainment Experience" at 500 Best Buy locations around the U.S. Each area will be staffed by a Samsung-trained Best Buy employee, who will be on hand to answer questions about new Samsung products, current technologies, and the best options to suit all of your AV needs.
Of course, the highlight at each location will be Samsung's new Curved UHD TVs and Flat UHD TVs. Offering four times the resolution of full HD, Samsung had previously announced five new series of UHD TVs for this spring. In addition to that eye-popping image, the company is highlighting this lineup's future-proofing possibilities via the Samsung UHD Evolution Kit, as well as access to UHD content with Samsung's exclusive UHD Video Pack.
In addition to the latest TVs, the company also expects to have audio products on display, including the Samsung Shape Wireless Audio Multiroom System.
"Consumer awareness and purchase intent for UHD technology is increasing steadily and the Samsung Entertainment Experience at Best Buy provides consumers with the opportunity to learn more and get an in-depth look at how this breathtaking new technology can change their viewing experience at home," Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America. "We understand the importance of the product experience in stores and will continue to work with our retail partners to showcase next-generation technologies through effective merchandising solutions."
If you're in the store, you may also notice another giant UHD TV display, powered by Sony. The manufacturer just announced a similar initiative, which will put the "Sony Experience at Best Buy" into 350 stores nationwide. Designed to be like a store within the store, Sony plans to have a slew of products on display, with interactive demonstration areas and dedicated Sony Experience Experts on hand.
Ultra HD will definitely dominate the space, which will have a full suite of 4K products. The expected lineup will include Sony's 4K Ultra HD TVs, 4K Ultra HD Media Players (FMP-X1 and FMP-X10) and the 4K HandyCam camcorder (FDR-AX100). Sony also plans to have soundbars and other home audio solutions on hand, as well as the PlayStation 4.
Shoppers will be able to interact with the products using touchscreens, which will provide access and control to almost everything that's on display. Users can compare 4K Ultra HD TVs alongside HDTVs with HD video and native 4K content, find out just what the heck the company means by "TRILUMINOS Display," and see how broadcast TV and Blu-ray will pop on newer TVs.
While there's no official word on when Samsung will pop up in the stores, Sony says that shoppers will start seeing the "Sony Experience at Best Buy" sometime in mid-May.
