Samsung Nets 23 Innovation Awards for CES 2010

By Chris Boylan

They say it's an honor just to be nominated, and if so, honors go out to Korean Consumer Electronics manufacturer Samsung who took home 23 nominations for CEA Innovations Awards earlier this week.  At a press event in New York City, Innovations Awards nominees were announced including categories such as display devices, video sources, home theater systems and environmentally friendly "Eco-Design" nomincations.  Winners will be celebrated at the CES:Unveiled event that will kick off CES 2010 in Las Vegas this upcoming January.

"The CES Innovations Awards reflect the important success Samsung has seen this year with our leading-edge product design and sustainability efforts that enrich the lives of consumers in the U.S. market," said CS Choi, president and CEO, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "CEA is a prestigious industry organization and we are honored to be recognized for our technology innovation and engineering excellence by leading industry experts who judged the award competition."

More than just a pretty face. Samsung's LED TVs were also honored for their environmentally friendly design.

In all, Samsung Electronics award-winners include: three LED TVs, one plasma TV, three Blu-ray players, one home theater system, two digital audio players, two digital cameras, one refrigerator, six mobile phones, and one LCD monitor, in addition to the afore-mentioned three eco-design product innovations.
All of Samsung's products will be on display during the 2010 International CES, January 7-10, 2010, in Samsung booth # 11026 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
