If you've got one of Samsung's Galaxy Note 10.1 or Galaxy Tab 2 devices, we know what you're doing this weekend. Most likely, you'll spend at least a little time checking out some of your device's new features.
Samsung Electronics just announced plans to update both devices to Android 4.1 (aka Jelly Bean). The upgrade will be available to U.S. users of the WiFi versions of the Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 2.
Galaxy Note 10.1 users will get the most goodies, including a new collection of features known as the Premium Suite. The upgrade boasts better multi-tasking and productivity, as well as improved S Pen support and the ability to easily open and resize multiple apps and even view them across the screen in layers.
Part of those perks will include the new Multi Window feature for a dual view, while running two apps side by side. The Cascade View will allow users to freely resize, move and pin selected applications in multiple views, all while running them simultaneously or while operating the home-screen.
Some of the S Pen features will include Air View, so users can quickly preview content without having to actually open it. That means you can preview video while scrubbing, preview email attachments without opening, preview photos without opening the album, and more. There's also something called Quick Command, which allows the S Pen to activate applications and services that are used most often, using command shortcuts and preset S Pen strokes. Other S Pen features include enhanced handwriting features for notes, memos and email, as well as new ready-to-use templates, photo notes, and much more.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be as much fanfare over the Galaxy Tab 2 getting the upgrade, but both the 10.1 and 7.0 will get Android 4.1 as well. (That said, we loved the device in its original form. Across all of the devices, Samsung is promising a better user interface, faster response times and performance and just a better user experience overall. Everyone's got to love that! Well, not the non-WiFi users. The upgrade won't be available to them just yet, and Samsung hasn't said when that upgrade will be made available.
