Audiophiles, start your salivating! This week is the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show. It's the biggest electronics tradeshow of the year. Tons of manufacturers are currently testing and tweaking demo systems in the Las Vegas area right now, ready to show off all of drool-worthy goodies that we can expect to see released sometime (hopefully!) this year.
The number of products we plan to see in the next week is awesome, but also overwhelming. That's why some manufacturers like to get a bit of a jump on the festitivites. For instance, Samsung Electronics has decided to announce its 2013 digital audio lineup before all of the insanity kicks in. Now, the new selection of products doesn't just include a full home theater system, a Bluetooth speaker and a soundbar, but also has a Blu-ray player in that mix.
The first of Samsung's 2013 audio announcements is the new HW-F750 Vacuum Tube Soundbar. This slim package may finally have audiophiles singing a different tune about soundbars, since it packs in a nice vacuum tube amplifier. It also has something called the SoundShare function, which basically means that the soundbar can connect to the TV via wireless Bluetooth technology.
Other features on the HW-F750 include the AirtrackON function, its own wireless subwoofer, and a gyroscope sensor to gauge height, rotation and slope to optimize sound quality.
For something slightly more portable, Samsung will have the DA-F60 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. Even though this speaker is just 3 pounds, it has neodymium magnets and a passive radiator to provide the perfect playback. Like the soundbar, this model also has the SoundShare feature. It also packs in Near-Field Communications (NFC) connectivity and built-in apt-X code technology.
Those in need of a larger setup will want to check out the HT-F9750W 7.1-Channel Home Theater System. Designed as a complement to one of those soon-to-be-announced Samsung 2013 TVs, this is a complete home theater package. It has a proprietary vacuum tube and digital amplifier to crank 1330 watts. Other features include the DTS Neo fusion codec, Samsung's 4K scaler processor, a Gallium Nitride (GaN) amplifier, and Ceramic Polypropylene Injection Diaphragm (CPID) speakers. Also, the Blu-ray player offers up Smart TV streaming from Samsung's Smart Hub and AllShare features.
Even if you're partial to your current home theater setup, you could always use a little upgrade like the BD-F7500 Premium Blu-ray Player. Designed to work with SD and HD content, this player can even upscale to the level of Ultra High Definition (UHD)-supported TVs. This player also has a dual-core processor and can share all of the Smart Hub and AllShare goodies.
Samsung has yet to announce pricing or availability on any of the above products. However, the company will have everything out on display at this week's 2013 International CES. The show runs from January 8-11, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
