SIM2 Starts Shipping NERO 3D Projector Line

By Rachel Cericola

Back in September, SIM2 was celebrating a very special anniversary at the CEDIA Expo. As part of the festivities, the company debuted its NERO 3D line of 3D projectors. Now, we're getting word that SIM2 has started shipping the first model in that line.

The NERO 3D-2 is the first one to be available. However, there is a choice to be made, since this model offers the option of three different glass lenses. The NERO 3D-2 with T1, which is a short-throw ratio 1.37-1.66:1 lens, has an MSRP of $24,900. The NERO 3D-2 with T2, a long-throw ratio 1.82-2.48:1 lens, is priced at $24,900. The final NERO 3D-2 option features the T3, a long-throw ratio 2.60-3.90:1 lens. That one can be had for just $26,750.

The NERO 3D-2 is both compact and curvy. That standard black cabinet can pretty much match any decor, too. Other features on this single-chip DLP projector include the ALPHAPATH light engine and the latest DLP chipset. It also has DynamicBlack, which promises better black levels and a contrast ratio up to 30,000:1. Last, but certainly not least, the NERO 3D-2 has PureMovie and Pure Motion user modes as a standard feature for both 2D and 3D viewing.

Yes, in case the product name didn't give this away, the NERO 3D-2 projector can also support 3D viewing. Whether you put this big boy in a home theater, a game room, or anywhere else, if you want to take advantage of those 3D features, you will need the optional SIM2 3D emitter and 3D glasses.

The recently announced NERO Series offers a choice of projector models, all of which are made in Italy. The NERO 3D-1, 3D-2, 3D-HB and NERO 235 each have different feature sets, depending on model. Some of the options include 3D support, high brightness, high contrast, and 2.35:1 aspect ratio (NERO 235 only).

SIM2 is selling the NERO Series exclusively through authorized dealers nationwide. If you're holding out for one of the other NERO models, which includes the NERO 3D-1, 3D-HB and NERO 235, those are expected to be available over the next few months.
