The guys at SIM2 sure know how to party. To celebrate the Italian manufacturer's 15th anniversary, the company announced a U.S. tour, new promotions, and more importantly, new products.
First up are two new compact models, the Crystal 35 and Crystal 45 projectors. Using a Full HD single-chip DLP design, both home devices are the brainchild of industrial designer Giorgio Revoldini. These models feature a more classic, straight-edge design (see below), in both glass surfaced white or black.
"The new line of home-entertainment products offers the look and feel of luxury," said Alberto Fabiano, SIM2's executive VP. "This is consistent with our basic mission that all customers should experience the same reference quality from SIM2, be it in styling, features, service, or support."
If you want something slightly more in-your-face, SIM2 also has two new 3D solutions. The theater-grade C3X LUMIS 3D SOLO is a three-chip, single-lens projector, which is based on the existing C3X LUMIS projector. Featuring the company's PureMotion 3D active technology, SIM2 says that this model is perfect for sports or movie fans, as well as gamers. Also, it comes packing four pairs of XPAND 3D powered active glasses.
Other features on this full HD (1080p) DLP-based home theater projector include a redesigned ALPHAPATH light engine, three viewing modes, DynamicBlack technology, Live Color Calibration software, and two HDMI inputs. It also boasts a contrast ratio of up to 35:000:1
The second 3D projector, the C3X LUMIS 3D HC, is a DCI 3D system that boasts accurate color control designed for post-production (and similar) facilities.
Fabiano plans to take all four projectors on tour to custom integrators, as well as the design community. If you can't wait, each one is shipping now in both white and black. The Crystal 35 has an MSRP of $6500, with the Crystal 45 coming in at $8500. Expect the 3D to cost extra, with the C3X LUMIS 3D Solo priced $50,000 and the C3X LUMIS 3D HC costing $55,000.
