With so many web-based services streaming to the TV these days, that big-screen is becoming quite the entertainment hub. Now, of course, if you have any experience with streaming services, you know there's hours upon hours of video to be viewed. However, today's smart TVs also offer a lot of ways to rock out -- with Rhapsody being the latest service to squeeze into that playlist.
Rhapsody just announced that it is now available for streaming on LG, Panasonic and Samsung Smart TVs. NPD recently announced that 20 percent of the TVs shipped this year are expected to be smart TVs, so it makes sense that the service would want to branch out.
Rhapsody offers unlimited access to millions of music tracks, both on and offline, with monthly plans that range from $9.99 to $14.99 per month. The Rhapsody TV app is optomized for TV use, prioritizing such features as radio stations, favorite tracks, editorial and customer-curated playlists, as well as new releases and recommendations.
"Our goal is to be within arm's reach for our customers so they can enjoy anytime, anywhere access to the music that matters most to them. For many of our customers, the living room and the TV are the focal point for digital media consumption," said Paul Springer, SVP of product and design for Rhapsody. "With these launches, Rhapsody expands its reach on the most popular Smart TV platforms, with more coming."
That growth isn't just some marketing talk, either. Rhapsody is planning to put its service on Sharp TVs in the coming months, with Xbox Live options launching later this year.
