It seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating Polk Audio's very first entry into the headphone market, the Ultrafit line. Now, the company is branching out with UltraFocus, a brand-new line of headphones designed for audiophiles in need of noise-cancellation on the go.
The UltraFocus 6000 is an in-ear model, with the UltraFocus 8000 offering over-the-ear use. Both feature active-noise cancellation and passive-noise isolation features, so you can just enjoy the music-- all without having to suffer any of that sound quality.
Both models have Polk's own Ultra Fidelity Dynamic Balance transducers, which boast a full frequency response and the capability to minimize distortion. Each one also has Push-to-Hear Ambient Control, so users can mute the audio signal and amplify outside sounds, for those times when you want to be more aware of your surroundings.
Other features include ultra-flexible planar audio cables to reduce tangling and computer-designed, Kevlar-core Strainguard transitional connections.
The UltraFocus 6000 comes with a protective carrying case, which fits the included 2.5mm-to-3.5mm headset adapter and an assortment of foam, flanged, and flangeless silicone ear tips. The UltraFocus 8000 has leather earpads, a Skype adapter, a 1/8-to-1/4-inch plug adapter, and an on-ear 3-button remote control for use with an iPhone, iPod or iPad.
"For too long, consumers have had to make a choice between active noise cancelation and true high-fidelity sound from their headphones," said Ben Newhall, Polk Audio's senior VP of sales and marketing. "With UltraFocus, Polk has developed a line of headphones that deliver not only rich, detailed, lifelike audio performance along with active reduction of ambient noise, but also a number of exciting benefits that we think consumers will appreciate."
Polk says that the UltraFocus 6000 and UltraFocus 8000 are now shipping. They are priced at $149.95 and $349.95, respectively.
