Plasma TV Sale: Samsung 51-inch 1080p 3D HDTV: $994.90 Shipped (PN51D6500)

By Rachel Cericola

One of the "obstacles" to 3D adoption is that you don't just need to buy a big 3D TV. Of course, you need 3D glasses to actually watch 3D content. However, Amazon is making the move pretty pain-free, by slashing prices on select Samsung plasma 3D TVs and throwing in an $80 credit towards getting those glasses.

Now if you do the math (properly), you'll realize that those glasses turn out to be absolutely free -- two pairs of them, in fact. However, when doing this deal, you need to make sure that you add the 3D TV into your shopping cart, as well as the number of glasses you want to purchase, both with Amazon.com as the seller. If you just want the free glasses, make sure that the number of 3D glasses you add to your cart is "2." The $80 discount will then be reflected in your shopping cart before you check out.  Of course, at $37.95/pair (the lowest we've ever seen for active 3D glasses), you might want to add a few more to your cart so the whole family can enjoy that 3D movie night.

One of our favorite models that's currently on sale is Samsung's 51-inch PN51D6500 1080p 3D Plasma, currently offered for $999 (that's $600 below list). This HDTV features 3D support and a 2D-to-3D conversion feature. It also does 2D extremely well, with a full 1080p HD image, 600Hz subfield motion technology for fast motion reproduction, excellent contrast and black levels, Clear Image Panel for exhanced clarity and detail, built-in Wi-Fi, and ConnectShare Movie and AllShare DLNA features.

Add the 3D TV and glasses into your shopping cart. With this offer, you may end up getting the TV cheaper than the discounted price!

This HDTV also provides instant, on-screen access to Samsung's Smart TV platform. This option allows you to navigate through multiple web-based services, right from your remote. Some of the current options being offered include Netflix, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, and much more. There's even a web browser, so you can surf and search the web, all while you are watching TV.

If you're looking to add in other AV devices, the PN51D6500 also has four HDMI inputs and two USB ports. Last, but certainly not least, this set has Samsung's Plasma Plus One Design, which boasts a bigger picture and less of the outer bezel so the front panel is nearly all screen, no frame. Just a quick reminder that the PN51D6500 and a few other select Samsung 3D TVs (like its big brother, the 59-inch PN59D6500 are eligible for the $80 credit towards 3D glasses -- which, since the glasses are currently $37.95/pair basically means two pairs of FREE 3D glasses! However, to take advantage of this discount, you'll need to add the TV into your shopping cart, as well as however many pairs of 3D glasses that you want to purchase with Amazon.com as the seller, not one of the third party marketplace sellers.  If you've done it right you should see an $80 credit appear in your shopping cart during checkout.

Amazon is also offering free Super Saver shipping on these models, as well as free 30-day returns and Amazon's own 14-day TV Low Price Guarantee. Better start shopping soon; the offer for free glasses is only good through December 3, 2011 or whenever the retailer runs out of stock of each model.
