Pioneer Ships Its First Blu-ray 3D Players

By Rachel Cericola

Pioneer is ending the year on a high note, or at least a 3D note. The company just announced availability of the very first Pioneer Blu-ray 3D players.

First seen at September's CEDIA Expo, the new models include the BDP-430 and the BDP-41FD and BDP-43FD, which fall under the company's Elite umbrella. Promising fast load times and streaming media features, all three players support Blu-ray 3D playback and Wi-Fi (see below), as well as a BD-J resume feature and the free iControlAV App, which allows for control via the iPhone or iPod touch.

Other features include support for 36-Bit Deep Color and the latest HD audio formats, as well as Pioneer's own PureCinema technology for upconverting SD DVDs to 1080p.

Each player features an Ethernet connection and wireless support via the optional AS-WL200 adapter. This connectivity allows viewers to tap into additional content via partners such as Netflix and Pandora, with YouTube coming soon via a firmware upgrade.

Sold exclusively through installers, the BDP-43FD has an Armored Chassis Construction and a RS-232C port.

All three players are available now. The Pioneer BDP-430 has an MSRP of $299. The Elite BDP-41FD and Elite BDP-43FD are exclusively available through custom channels, with prices listed at $399 and $499, respectively.
