After five self-titled albums, Peter Gabriel released So in 1986. The album turned out to be the biggest of Gabriel's career -- which is extremely impressive considering the former Genesis frontman's catalogue.
Now, 26 years later, Eagle Rock Entertainment will dissect So as part of the studio's Classic Albums series. Classic Albums: So will debut on Blu-ray and DVD on September 18, 2012.
Classic Albums: So will go behind the scenes of the making of the album, which charted to number 1 in the UK and number 2 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S. It also spawned a ton of hit singles (and innovative music videos), including "Sledgehammer," "Big Time," "In Your Eyes," and the duet with Kate Bush, "Don't Give Up."
Eagle Rock's Classic Albums series takes a peek at the stories behind the albums that form the soundtrack to our lives. All are made with the cooperation and full authorization of the artists. In other words, you can expect to see Gabriel featured prominently here. Other participants include co-producer Daniel Lanois, engineer Kevin Killen and musicians Jerry Marotta, Laurie Anderson, Tony Levin and Manu Katché, as well as many more.
With an MSRP of $19.98 for the Blu-ray ($14.98 for the DVD), the release also features over 30 additional minutes in the bonus features section.
Classic Albums: So will be released to coincide with the September release of a special re-mastered version of So on CD, triple CD and in a super deluxe box set.
