When an electronics maker gets into movie making the thought is usually to supply sound or video technology for a James Cameron epic, where bigger and louder are typically the name of the game. But San Francisco based electronics manufacturer Parasound, maker of high end consumer and professional amplifier technology, has partnered with independent filmmaker Andrew Robinson for his upcoming comedy Love in Training, a light-hearted film based on the director's own experiences working at a private wildlife facility.
This is a twist worthy of a romantic comedy, as Parasound has been used by numerous studios and professionals around the world. The company has worked with Lucasfilm on the Star Wars prequels, as well as with Pixar, Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers and other innovators including Gary Rydstrom and Kanye West.
"Working with Parasound on Love In Training is a bit of a dream come true for me. Parasound was the first high-end amplifier I ever purchased while still in college and I bought it because of Parasound's storied reputation among the studio elite," said Andrew Robinson. "I was pleased when it turned out to be among the better sounding products I'd ever heard. Now, some 12 years later, I get the opportunity to work with the very men and women who helped inspire me to get into this business, which is amazing and a storyline worthy of a Hollywood script."
The team behind Loving in Training will use Parasound's flagship Halo line of products during post production. These will include specifically the A 51 and A 52 amplifiers, both of which feature THX Ultra 2 certification as well as circuitry design by professional audio engineer John Curl, who has created designs with Parasound for decades.
Use of the Parasound Halo line isn't limited to movie directors either. The A 51 multi-channel amplifier is available for $4,500 while the A 52 can be purchased for $2,500.
[editor's note: If Andrew's name sounds familiar to you, dear reader, that's probably because he's also the managing editor of Home Theater Review. We wish Andrew (and Parasound) the best of luck with the project! -CB]
