Depending where you live, either of these may be a better deal in terms of sales tax. Also, as noted above, B&H Photo has just reduced their price on the X1 model as well to an even lower $699.95 including free delivery and you may be able to find one at Best Buy or Sears for the same price.
While this TV has not had a formal review in Big Picture Big Sound, what we've seen of it at trade shows is pretty impressive, for the money. The TV features 3 HDMI inputs, Panasonic's 600 Hz subfield drive for excellent motion reproduction and neoPDP technology for all the picture quality benefits of plasma with about 50% higher power efficiency compared to previous models. Its native resolution is 1366x768 pixels which technically makes it a "720p" TV, but you can connect sources with resolution of 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p and the TV will automatically scale these to its native resolution.
The TV's rated native contrast ratio is 30,000:1 (dynamic contrast ratio 2,000,000:1) so you know it has great blacks and excellent contrast. It's new AR filter prevents excessive light reflection and its viewing angle is much wider than an LCD or LED/LCD TV. In addition to offering excellent performance on movies and sports, the TV offers a Game Mode which enhances image response times and activates built-in image retention processing to prevent any burn-in.
At 25% to 30% off the list price of $999, this deal is not likely to last and is limited to supplies on hand.
