Here at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Panasonic is giving everyone a look at their 2011 Blu-ray Disc players. Making their debut at CES is a trio of 3D Blu-ray players ( DMP-BDT310, DMP-BDT210, DMP-BDT110) and one 2D-only player (DMP-BD75).
Update: More details revealed in our article: Hands on With Panasonic's 2011 Blu-ray Players
All three of the new 3D Blu-ray players feature wireless support, with the DMP-BDT210 and DMP-BDT310 featuring integrated Wi-Fi and the DMP-BDT110 requiring an optional adapter, sold separately. All three 3D players also feature Panasonic's popular VIERA CAST software for access to streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, and more. The VIERA CAST app suite is also getting an update with the addition of new service partner Skype.
Controlling the DMP-BDT210 and DMP-BDT310 is a somewhat more refined experience thanks to the touch-sensitive controls present on both models. Both machines can also be controlled with a downloadable iPhone app, surely a useful tool when it comes to inputting login credentials or title searches on streaming services such as Netflix.
With respect to 3D performance, it should be noted that all three of the 3D Blu-ray Disc players feature 2D-to-3D conversion, for those times when a consumer wishes to give traditional 2D content the look and feel of 3D. These models also feature what Panasonic is calling its 3D Effect Controller, which allows consumers to "adjust the amount of depth" and "control the leaping effects of 3D images."
Finally, the one key step-up feature on the DMP-BDT310 is its incorporation of dual HDMI outputs. This allows for digital audio to be sent to legacy A/V receivers while your 3D video stream can be sent to your 3D display via the primary HDMI output.
All four models will be available in the spring at prices that are still TBD.
