Today is the day to buy an HDTV! Of course, we mean if you're looking for a good deal on one. The latest in our day of deals comes courtesy of Amazon. We just found the retailer offering Panasonic's 50-inch 1080p TC-P50G25 plasma HDTV for under $1000, with free shipping thrown in.
This 50-inch plasma offers a full 1080p HD picture, as well as a new panel with NeoPDP technology built in. This boasts a better, brighter image as well as enhanced energy efficiency over previous models. THX must agree, since this is a THX Certified Display. Other features include a 600Hz Sub-field Drive, Infinite Black panel, the VIERA Image Viewer for photo slideshows, a Game Mode, and Panasonic's own VIERA Link which enables multi-device control from your TV remote. Find out more on the TC-P50G25's product page on Amazon:
It's also important to note that this HDTV does feature VIERA Cast, which offers additional content right through your TV screen. Some of Panasonic's partners include Amazon Video on Demand, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter, YouTube, and Picasa. (Some subscription fees may apply.)
Also, one of the manufacturer's coolest new VIERA Cast features is Skype. Just add on the optional TY-CC10 camera, and you can use this 50-inch HDTV to make and take video phone calls to anyone else on Skype with a webcam on their PC or TV. This VIERA HDTV also includes two USB ports, an Ethernet port, and three HDMI inputs.
If you need something slightly smaller, Amazon also has the Panasonic VIERA TC-P42G25 at a nice discount. The features are exactly the same as the P50G25, except for the screen size, of course. Check that out here:
Before you check out on either of the HDTVs above, make sure to get your TiVo discount. Yes -- Amazon is offering a little bonus on all HDTVs over 40 inches. Buy either of the TVs above (or select other HDTVs), and you'll score $200 off a TiVo Premiere or the Premiere XL.
The TiVo Premiere packs in 320GB of TV storage, which translates to 45 hours of your favorire TV shows in high-def or 400 hours of standard-def content. With Amazon's discount, you can get this unit for about $55. If you want to bulk up your storage, the TiVo Premiere XL holds 1TB, which is about 150 hours of HD or 1350 of SD. The XL also has THX certification, as well as THX's Optimizer video calibration tool. Check out more on both models, as well as other HDTVs that qualify for this offer on Amazon's product page:
The pricing on both of the above Panasonic models may vary - final pricing is always set on Amazon's web site (not ours) so click through to view current pricing. However, the TiVo credit is only available on purchases made directly through Amazon, from now through 11:59 p.m. (PST) on October 31, 2010 -- or until they run out of stock on those items.
