Onkyo continues its reputation of releasing affordable yet high performing home theater products with a new HTiB (home theater in a box) system that is both THX I/S Plus Certified and 3D-ready. The Onkyo HT-S9300THX home theater system packs a 7.1 channel surround sound speaker system with a feature-full receiver for under $1,100.
Following the release of the Onkyo TX line of 3D-ready home theater receivers, which became available earlier this month, the HT-S9300THX features a similarly featured receiver unit, with the addition of seven speakers plus a powered subwoofer. It's THX I/S Plus certified as an integrated system which should mean that the included speakers are able to keep up with standalone speaker systems in the audio performance department. The new HTiB is also 3D-Ready and has four 3D-Ready HDMI 1.4a inputs for connection to audio and video source components.
The system's receiver can upscale video from any input source to 1080p resolution through Faroudja DCDi Cinema processor. It also includes lossless Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio processing; Dolby ProLogic IIz height channel processing; and additional high-performance sound processing features from THX, Audyssey and Onkyo.
Calibration and set-up of the surround sound field of seven speakers and the powered subwoofer is accomplished automatically using Audyssey 2EQ calibration and room acoustics correction technology. The receiver also features Audyssey's Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume processing. The HT-S9300THX will be available at the end of July for a list price of $1,099.
