Acer is throwing its name into the ring for your home theater dollars, announcing a new 3D projector. The Acer H9500BD Home Theater Projector can do full 1080p HD, as well as 3D, all for $1999.
Designed for everything from movies to gaming to photos, the H9500BD DLP projector features support for popular 3D technologies, such as Blu-ray 3D and 3D set-top boxes, as well as NVIDIA 3DTV Play and 3D-compatible gaming consoles. It also boasts a 2D-to-3D conversion feature to add a little pop to your normal 2D HD viewing experience.
The H9500BD also promises a 3D experience out of the box, since it comes packing one pair of Acer active-shutter 3D glasses.
Of course, if you want to keep things in the second dimension, the projector has a full high definition 1920x1080 pixel resolution for 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios, and promises screen sizes ranging from 20 to 300 inches diagonal.
Other features include AcuMotion for those fast-moving scenes, a 50,000:1 rated dynamic contrast ratio, up to 2000 ANSI lumens, and ColorBoost II and ColorSafe II technologies. The projector also offers easy placement, thanks to the lens shift feature.
The H9500BD welcomes other AV components, with dual HDMI 1.4 ports, a DVI-D port, HDCP, two sets of D-Sub and audio connectors, and three RCA jacks, as well as options for component video, and S-Video mini DIN. It also has a 2.5mm audio mini-jack and support for a PC with 120Hz output and 3D software.
"Home theater enthusiasts will be thrilled that the Acer H9500BD lets them enjoy an enormous 300-inch diagonal Full HD 3D projected image in their home -- a size that's much bigger than what's available to consumers with today's display technologies," said Chris White, Acer's senior director of product marketing. "Anyone considering a home theater should definitely look at the new Acer H9500BD projector for its combination of high-end home theater features such as full HD 1080p video and 3D capabilities, available at an incredibly affordable price."
Weighing in at about 15.9 pounds, the Acer H9500BD projector is available now with an MSRP of $1999.99 (available for less online).
