Big Picture Big Sound

NAD Introduces T 747 and T 737 Home Theater Receivers

By Rachel Cericola

A high-def home theater isn't just all about the big picture - you also need that BIG SOUND. And this is where a good A/V receiver comes in, as the centerpiece of any home media system. NAD can help you make the surround sound magic happen, with their new T 747 and T 737, two 7.1-channel receivers designed to handle all of the technological advances inside today's high definition home theater.

Ideal for the average-sized room, the T 747 handles all of the latest surround sound formats available on Blu-ray Disc via on-board decoding and four HDMI inputs.  The 747 can crank Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio sound up to 60 watts per channel. The unit also provides the option for a second A/V zone, with two remotes included (one for each of those areas).

The T 737 delivers 40 watts to each of seven channels. Its two HDMI inputs support video switching (passthrough) only, so your audio will need to go through fiberoptic digital, coax digital or analog connections.  Its three surround modes allow users to get the most out of multichannel-encoded DVDs using Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES, encoded two-channel recordings with Dolby ProLogic IIx and DTS Neo:6, and NAD’s own EARS and Stereo Enhanced modes.

Both receivers also feature AM/FM tuners with 50 station presets, XM satellite radio options, and optional IPD 2 Dock for iPod support, which allows iPod audio and video to be played directly on your home theater. If you're worried about setting it all up, each one also has an Auto Calibration function, which uses a special microphone and test tone to help easily set up your speaker system.

The T 747 and T 737 also include NAD's "Full Disclosure" Power ratings, which clearly spell out the receivers' capabilities under real-world conditions.  Although 40 and 60-watt specs might not sound that impressive if past performance of NAD products is any indication, the receivers themselves surely will.

The T 747 and T 737 AV Receivers are available now from authorized NAD dealers at suggested prices of $1,299 and $799, respectively.
